Understanding Recovery Beyond Treatment

Recovery rarely ends when treatment programs end. Many individuals make important progress in structured environments, but the challenge often comes afterward — maintaining that progress in everyday life.

MyRecoveryPlug explores recovery through conversation, insight, and practical reflection. The focus is on helping individuals and families better understand addiction, behavior change, and the systems that support long-term recovery.

Recovery is strengthened through clarity, accountability, and connection.

My Recovery Plug: Connecting Recovery to Sustainable Support

Background

My name is Harrison Mathangani, and MyRecoveryPlug grew from my experience observing how recovery unfolds both inside and outside structured treatment environments.

During my time around addiction recovery settings, I noticed a pattern. Many individuals leave treatment having made important progress, yet struggle to maintain that progress once the structured environment ends.

This observation led me to focus on an important question:

What helps people sustain recovery after the initial breakthrough?

My work explores recovery from a systems perspective — examining the roles of structure, accountability, behavioral insight, and supportive environments in maintaining long-term change.

Through MyRecoveryPlug, I aim to contribute to recovery conversations by sharing insight, encouraging reflection, and helping individuals and families better understand the recovery process.

Recovery often requires more than motivation.
It requires structure, clarity, and intentional decision-making over time.
